Dear Client,
we're pleased to announce the new Printfil 5.26 release.
What's new:
- New Printing engine: AUTO. When selecting AUTO either at Configuration -> Standard or by Line no. 11 of the optional CFG file, Printfil now checks which kind of print job has just captured and can switch automatically to the most suitable printing engine: GDI, RAW, PDF, PCL, or PS (PostScript).
This way you can use different kinds of source programs (i.e. graphical programs like AutoCAD for DOS and textual programs) simultaneously without having to change the Printfil's configuration each time you switch from one to the other kind.
If used in the Command line command: Printfil File-to-print.PRN "HP Deskjet" AUTO the file is sent to the destination printer silently, unlike Printfil File-to-print.PRN "HP Deskjet" that in some cases may prompt you a message on the screen.
- Added support for A4 paper size in the PDF printing engine. It's automatically managed by Printfil; you just have to ensure the "Paper Size" selected in the Windows printer's driver is A4.
- When printing PCL files by the PCL printing engine on A4 paper, the jobs could sometimes be wrongly formatted on Legal paper instead, due to undesirable behavior in GhostPCL.
Waiting for a new GhostPCL version, we found a workaround to fix the problem, but now it's needed even GhostScript on the PC to correctly manage A4 sized PCL prints.
- When sending out prints via e-mail now you can specify email addresses up to 254 characters long.
This is useful to send messages to addresses like p+_very_long_@pages-reply.facebook.com or _very_long@attach-archive.com for automatic posting on social networks or automated email attachments archiving systems.
- We're constantly posting new videos on our social channels to show how to do useful things like:
Send the same print to 2 printers simultaneously,
Print multiple copies of the same print,
3 ways to print to TXT files, and others (https://www.printfil.com/article).
To be kept timely informed when we publish new videos you can:

- Some other minor improvements
The upgrade is free
for all the Customers who are using the 5.x version,
by using the same license codes. You just need to download and
install the new Printfil setup program (or leave the AutoUpdate program doing it
automatically) without uninstalling the current version first.
If you are still using an old 4.3 version,
purchased since 7 Nov 2005 (date of its release), you've right to the free
upgrade too, but even your license codes needs to be upgraded
(Printfil 5 uses different codes than Printfil 4). The AutoUpdate
program will guide you through the update process and will
automatically update everything that is needed. If the automatic check
has been disabled, simply right-click the Printfil's trayed icon and choose "Search
for updates".
If you've purchased previous 4.x licenses from 2003 to 2005, for a limited time only,
you can still upgrade them to the newest version simply by purchasing
Printfil Upgrade licenses at discounted prices. Don't miss this opportunity! it
will expire soon!
If you've questions,
comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
Davide Guolo
