Email DOS prints via an email client program or an SMTP server

In a previous video, we've seen how to automatically send a DOS invoice via e-mail, with or without user intervention.

In this video, we'll see how to configure Printfil to do that by using an email client program or by or by calling an SMTP server directly.

1st method - Send via the email client:

  • Print a DOS invoice to LPT1:
  • Click the email icon and create a PDF
  • The email is opened in the default MAPI mailer, with the PDF attached
  • Here it is (we sent it to ourselves)

2nd method - Send via SMTP, w/o an email client:

  • Go to Configuration -> Standard -> PDF & E-mail -> SMTP
  • Insert your parameters (gmail wants SSL/465) and click Test
  • Send the test e-mail via SMTP to yourself
  • Here is the test message
  • Print the DOS invoice again
  • Now the email icon triggers the SMTP dialog, with the PDF attached
  • Send the message and check mail
